Trinh Vo Yetzer, Managing Partner, User Research International (Board President)
Trinh Vo Yetzer is a Managing Partner for User Research International. She has over 25 years of experience creating usable, accessible, and inclusive products. At User Research International (URI), she is responsible for leading employee development and strategy for the company as well as day-to-day operations. Prior to User Research International, Trinh was a user experience thought leader at Microsoft. She holds several patents and has made numerous contributions across multiple Microsoft Server and Cloud products. Trinh holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Idaho and a master’s degree in Behavioral Psychology from Bastyr University.
Trinh joined the Disability: IN Washington Board in 2019 and currently serves as the President. Her passion for accessibility is reflected across URI as she is always striving to help customers build and deliver inclusive products for all people – regardless of a disability. Trinh has moderated numerous accessibility research panels, and has led workshops, events, and seminars on accessibility.
Tarena Shanaberger, Inclusive Hiring Program Manager, Microsoft (Board Vice President)
As Inclusive Hiring Program Manager on the Microsoft Accessibility Team, Tarena is responsible for planning, organizing, scaling, and executing the Neurodiversity Hiring program and other disability hiring initiatives. Tarena partners closely with the Microsoft Global Talent Acquisition team, Diversity and Inclusion, the Disability employee community, and Accessibility Office. Working in partnership both internally and externally to bring different teams together to enable hiring, growth, and retention of people with disabilities.
Tarena joined the Disability:IN Washington Board in 2018 and currently serves as the Vice President for the Board. In both her personal and professional life Tarena strives to create change and improve individual experiences for others. She keeps busy with her two kids, pets, home projects, gardening, cooking and enjoying spending time with friends and family.
Heidi Burgess, Senior Recruiter/Sourcer, Nordstrom, Inc. (Board Treasurer)
Heidi Burges was born in La Paz, Bolivia. At the age of 12 she immigrated to the United States with her family, eventually settling in Seattle, WA. Heidi received her bachelor’s degree at the University of Washington and master’s in business administration, HR Degree from Seattle Pacific University. She began her HR career at Starbucks where she eventually settled in Talent Acquisition. Since leaving Starbucks Heidi has worked at Darigold and is now part of the Corporate Talent Acquisition team at Nordstrom.
Heidi joined the Disability:IN Washington Board in 2010 and currently serves as Treasurer. She also serves as a leadership member of the Thrive (different abilities) Employee Resource Group at Nordstrom. Heidi has always been an untiring advocate for those with visible and invisible disabilities. Serving on the Disability:IN Washington Board, Heidi has been a great resource for networking and knowledge around a critical topic.
John Dubay, Managing Partner, Leads at Scale (Board Secretary)
John earned his bachelor’s degree from Washington State University and the University of London studying International Business, International Relations, Business Administration and History. After 25+ years of managing and directing teams of Account Managers and support staff dispersed worldwide John decided to leverage his experience and available technology to launch a customer service and sales support company dedicated to supporting B2B organizations and providing professional employment opportunities to the blind and low vision. Today Leads at Scale is proud to say 100% of its employees are either blind or low vision.
John joined the Disability:IN Washington Board in 2019 and currently serves as Secretary. He enjoys combining his passion for identifying and advancing professional employment opportunities for people with disabilities with his real-world business and operations perspective and experiences as he advocates for the disabled with businesses and non-profit groups around Washington State and the rest of the country.
Bri Sambo, Sr. Program Manager – Diversity & Military Sourcing, T-Mobile/Metro PCA
Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Bri Sambo graduated from the University of Washington where she studied Comparative History of Ideas (CHID) and later earned a Certificate in Human Resources Management. Bri started her HR career working at smaller local companies before moving on to gain experience at Seattle-based retailer Amazon; then in 2013, joined the Un-carrier – T-Mobile. Bri has held a variety of diverse positions and roles within T-Mobile’s HR organization, but is most proud of her work leading T-Mobile’s accessibility focused Employee Network Group and in developing the strategy and laying the groundwork for T-Mobile’s accessibility and individuals with disabilities hiring initiatives.
In addition to being a Disability:IN Board member since 2016, Bri is personally connected to Disability:IN Washington’s work of disability advocacy in the workplace. In 2013 she was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis, a condition that affects joint mobility. Regardless of physical challenges, Bri enjoys an active life with her family which includes hiking, gardening, auto/ATV racing and powerlifting.
Anisa Proda, Senior Analyst, Accessibility Resource Center, T-Mobile
Anisa is a blind immigrant, activist woman that moved from Albania to the United States in 2017. She has been actively engaged in the Disability field in different capacities such as policymaking, public advocacy and consultancy for businesses and nonprofits. Her ten years of work experience in Europe and the United States have given her a powerful lens to view diversity and inclusion. Anisa has taught university courses in disability rights, disability ethics and inclusive arts. She holds a Doctoral Degree in Political Science from the European University of Tirana and a master’s in International Studies from the University of Washington. Anisa is a published author in both academic journals and artistic literature. In her spare time, she enjoys mountain hiking, cross-country skiing and kayaking.
Anisa is excited to have joined Disability:IN Washington board because she believes the organization is a powerful force able to help corporate America become more disability inclusive with their workforce and with the products/services they provide.
Phoebe Larner, Senior User Experience Researcher, Alaska Airlines
Phoebe is focused on E-Commerce digital products at Alaska Airlines and believes by developing a deep understanding for guest needs, she helps teams internalize and better understand the impact their products have on the guest experience. In addition to her work as a researcher, Phoebe leads the Accessibility and Inclusive Design Guild in her department, a cross-functional volunteer group of employees passionate about creating enjoyable digital experiences for guests of all abilities.
Phoebe joined the Disability:IN Washington Board in 2021 and is excited to be part of Disability:IN and in helping raise awareness about disability in the broader community. Phoebe has a B.A. in Psychology and an M.S. in Human Computer Interaction. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, spending time with family, and learning new things.
Rachel Green, Senior User Experience Researcher, Amazon Prime
Rachel Green is a Senior UX Researcher at Amazon and a founding member of Prime’s Accessibility Team. Rachel is a 14-year veteran of user research with a focus on elevating the voices and experiences of untapped users. She holds degrees in Psychology and Library and Information Science and is always looking for a good book recommendation. Rachel enjoys volunteering at the Seattle Animal Shelter and spending her free time crafting and traveling to new places.
As a new Board Member and part of the Disability: IN Washington team, she is enthusiastic about helping Washington State businesses become more inclusive in every aspect – from hiring to product development.
